Testimonials

Lancashire County Council is delighted to be a partner in this innovative and far-sighted programme. The LTA, through its commitment to professional support and the career development of teachers, makes a major contribution to the Authority's strategy to recruit and retain high quality teachers in Lancashire schools.

Chris Lennox, Enterprise and Partnership Strategy Manager, Lancashire County Council said:

"Lancashire was successful in gaining Beacon Council Status in 2004/2005 for 'Transforming the School Workforce', in recognition of our innovative work relating to recruitment and retention and the remodelling of the schools' workforce.

Lancashire's innovative approach to partnership working led to the Council being at the forefront in establishing the Lancashire Teaching Agency (LTA) in 2002.  As a key part of the Authority's Recruitment and Retention Strategy, the LTA has provided a vital source of quality assured short term and long term supply cover to our schools whilst offering all teachers a comprehensive package of professional development opportunities to meet the needs of schools. In addition, the LTA offers an  effective retention tool for teachers, affording flexible working options to support work life balance, therefore retaining teachers in the profession.

The partnership has brought quality and Best Value to Lancashire."

David Carter, LTA Partnership Manager for Reed Education, said:

"Four years into the service, one principle remains as important today as it was in August 2002. The LTA was built on the principle of best value; schools receive a high-quality supply teacher service at a 'best value' price and teachers have parity with permanent colleagues with regard to payment, pension and access to a programme of professional development.
The service recognises the interests of everyone, schools and teachers alike. This can only be good for education in Lancashire."
